Locks 101: The History of Locks
by Professor Dropbolt.

Greetings class. Welcome to Locks 101: The History of Locks. Every journey of a thousand miles must begin with one step so this is it. Since this is our first class why not begin with some famous "firsts" of lockdom.

Locks were considered to be an item only for the very wealthy as they were usually the only ones to have something to be stolen (gold, silks, etc.). Usually they had hired guards for the job, usually from the military. But as the case is with all humans, they are susceptible to bribery, lack of attention and required a lot of capital to maintain on a constant basis. Therefore an alternative had to be found.
